What Is Acupuncture?
Acupuncture is a system of healing dating back thousands of years.

According to Traditional Chinese Medicine Qi (pronounced “chee”), or Life Energy, is the material basis on which our existence and health are maintained.

The Qi flows through a network of channels, called meridians, which are interconnected and link all parts of the body from the internal organs through to the skin. Qi has two fundamental forms: Yin Qi, which is passive, moist, cooling and quiescent; and Yang Qi, which is expansive, dry, warming and active.

Yin and Yang are two opposing, complementary, inseparable forces and health is achieved through constant adjustment of the two creating a delicate balance.

When Qi is obstructed in one part of the body the blockage affects the flow of energy elsewhere resulting in pain and disease.

Acupuncture is the insertion of fine needles at points along these channels to correct the obstructed flow of Qi and stimulate the body’s natural healing response.

Treatments are cumulative and each treatment builds on the previous one to restore the patient back to health and wellbeing.
